City Administrator
The City of Lumpkin Administrator's Office is also located in City Hall. This office is responsible for all daily financial transactions, fiscal year budgets, investment of funds, and control of all property owned by the City. All accounting procedures required by local, state, and federal laws are maintained by the Administrator's Office.

Water and Sewer Billing
The Water/Sewer Utility Billing Department is located at City Hall, 413 Martin Luther King Blvd.. All new residents of Lumpkin will need to visit this Office to apply for water and sewer service. This office also handles all matters related to utility billings or problems. Upon request, we have the capability of drafting your bank account for your monthly utility billing. Your bill is always mailed the last day of the month and should be received on the next day. Payment is due the 10th; a second notice is mailed on the 20th; and water is turned off for non-payment on the 25th of each month. If your account is paid on or after the 25th of the month, you may be subject to an additional $10.00 charge. For additional information please call 838-4333.

Tax Collection
Stewart County handles all tax listing/collection for the City of Lumpkin. If you have questions concerning your tax billing, you may call the Tax Assessor at 838- 0000or the Tax Collector at 838-0000. If you are a new citizen, you should call this number to make your first tax return sometime during the month of January. After making your first return, you will automatically receive an abstract to make all future returns. Failing to make a tax return in the month of January will result in your being charged a penalty as required by State law. You will be billed for City taxes in December. Tax on all motor vehicles will be billed on the first day of the 4th month following renewal of your Georgia License Plate or sticker.

Miscellaneous Information
The City of Lumpkin operates under the Stewart County Animal Control Ordinance. You are not required to purchase a dog license. To report problems concerning animal control, you may call the Stewartl County Animal Control Office at 838-____. City BusinessLicenses are sold at City Hall. This license is required by anyone doing business within the corporate limits. License must be renewed each year in January. For additional information please call 838-4333.

Police Department
Chief of Police Rivers The Lumpkin Police Department is committed to enhancing the quality of life in our community by working cooperatively with the public and within the framework of the Constitution to enforce the laws, preserve the peace, reduce fear, and provide for a safe environment for all of our citizens. The Department is responsible for responding to all calls for police service in the Lumpkin city limits. In addition, the Department is responsible for traffic safety and law enforcement. Community policing activities are the main emphasis for the Department order to be responsive to the needs of the community. The Department is responsible for the review and investigation of crimes. The Department investigates criminal offenses in an effort to make arrests and bring the responsible offenders to court for adjudication. In addition, it has primary responsibility for the investigation of drug activity in the City of Lumpkin. The Lumpkin Police Department is located at 413 Martin Luther King Blvd. For emergencies, dial 838-____and for non-emergencies or Information, dial 838-____.


Fire Department
Lumpkin Fire Department The Lumpkin Fire Department is an all-volunteer fire department. The Department responds to all known fires, as well as all other emergencies that may create the potential for a fire. For an emergency the Lumpkin Fire Department can be reached by dialing 838-____. The City of Lumpkin has an open burning ordinance that requires a burning permit be issued to anyone who wishes to burn brush inside the city limits. Our permits are issued under the regulation and enforcement standards of the Georgia Forestry Commission. There is no charge for a burning permit. Anyone burning without a permit is subject to a $50.00 fine. Permits are issued at the Fire Department. The Fire Department is located at 457 Martin Luther King Blvd. . We provide fire safety programs to any group which makes a request (such as church groups, civic organizations, scout troops, businesses, etc.).
